Architectural Technologist Entry Examination

One of the RIAI's primary objectives is the maintenance of standards in the practice of architecture.  This includes the objective of promoting, developing and supporting the role of the RIAI Architectural Technologist as set out in the RIAI Action Plan 2010 – 2013.
The purpose of the RIAI Architectural Technologist Entry Examination is to establish that candidates have attained the knowledge and skills set out in the RIAI Standard of Knowledge, Skill and Competence for Practice as an Architectural Technologist. This standard is the benchmark for admission to RIAI Architectural Technologist membership, regardless of how a candidate’s knowledge, skill and competence has been attained. It provides those seeking RIAI Architectural Technologist membership with a clear statement of what is required at the professional level and of the key areas of knowledge skill and competence that must be maintained for effective practice.
The Examination provides a route to Architectural Technologist membership of the RIAI for people who have not had the opportunity to gain an RIAI accredited qualification in architectural technology.
A candidate for the Examination must have a minimum of ten years of relevant experience (i.e. working as a technician/technologist within the construction industry). Up to three years of relevant full-time equivalent courses, successfully completed, may be taken into account as part of the ten years.
A Candidate who passes the Examination is eligible for Architectural Technologist membership of the RIAI.

Our 4th year lecturer Richard Cleary (ARIAI, B.Arch.(hons.), B.A.Arch., Dip. Arch.
